I was very sad to leave byron, after only two weeks there it was already feeling like home. but without a place to stay during such a busy season we had to pack up camp on jump on the first part of our OZ Experience bus trip. the ride was pretty cool, i talked with a cool scottish chick most of the way and the driver threw out some moderatly funny jokes and pointed out some cool stuff.
when we got to surfers it was pouring (buckets!) rain, and a crazy lightning storm. and at exactly the same time it started again today and its still thunder, lightning, rain and wind like i've never seen anywhere else in the world. surfers is like an australian vegas, with the tallest residentail building stretching way into the skyline. the beach is packed with skyscrapers, stripclubs, bars, restuarants, nightclubs, posch clothing stores, meat pie shops, and tourist junk. cant say its the nicest place ive been in australia, but its still cool to visit (for a few days.) the party is unreal, especially with so many places to go out and so many tourists here for a good time (and not a long time)
the beach is pretty nice, but its crazy packed in all the swimming zones. their designated between flags for life guards and keeps swimmers outta the rip tides. im pretty stoked for tex and cogan to get here tomorrow to hit up the surf, the waves look pretty epic here. we bought tickets for the "Plan B" club tour on new years eve for $85AUD. should be pretty cool, its 50/50 girls and guys and you get a green or red sticker depending if your in a relationship or single.
the hostel is okay, despite the washroom requiring shoes just to go into (lest you step in 1cm of slime), the rooms being to shot with no a/c, the terrible weather at nite, and the other backpackers not being very friendly or fun. i've definetly found its not necessarly the place that makes for a good time, but the company you have there.
ive gotta run and have a shower now, all the clubs require long pants and shoes here. not quite byron (or my) style, but as cogan always says "when in rome..."
