This was probably the lamest day of our trip so far, but def an experience. The drive was shit, flat, dry, straigh, and barren. No wildlife, nothing of interest to see. Just driving. We tried to drive to Kangaroo Island, but the ferry was $350!!! so we decided to make some miles and drive to Mt Gambier for the night.
Blue lake was beautiful, its in the top of a dormant volcanoe (mt gambier) and was the bluest water ive ever seen. We stayed at the first place we could find, just a lame quiet trailer park. It was freezing at night, and we got ravaged by mosquitos. We ate leftovers for dinner, which was pretty alright but really spicy (jalapenos in the chilli)
Oh yeah! and our lunch sucked ass, because we stopped to cook up some soup and ended up eating as fast as we could and running in circles from an UNIMAGINABLE swarm of black flies. they didnt bit or anything, but were really really annoying. if the great ocean road (only the last 30km of 2000 or so km) wasnt the most beautiful drive ive ever seen, i woulda been pretty upset

Hi Sweetie,
It was great talking to you on the phone last night. We didn't think to check on your blog and have been waiting for e-mails to come to the house.
Sounds like you are having a blast .... I know how expensive it is there and I'm not surprised that budgeting is going to be tougher than you thought. I went to the bank last week to set up a new account that can be accessed from anywhere around the world. If you EVER need money, let me know where your next destination is and I'll have money ready at an HSBC outlet there.
It's so quiet without you. I knew we were going to miss you, but as usual, no idea how bad!!! I don't even go downstairs because it feels so empty. I'll give it all a good cleaning before you come home though.
I guess you didn't realize that there are some pretty barren areas in Australia. It's pretty much desert country. I think that's probably where you encountered all the black flies ....
Now that we know you are e-mailing here, we will keep in touch regularly. Sorry we didn't check sooner.
Missing you terribly and thinking of you often. Your dad & I really enjoyed reading all your stories this morning. Glad to hear you aren't losing your sense of humour!!!
Keep in touch and never forget how much we love you!!!
Mom :o) xoxoxoxoxoxoxox
