Got back on the E39 toward Bergen after a breakfast of dark bread, salted herring and brown cheese. The girls had to stop in Stryn for American cuisine. The roads were much better but progress was slow as any curves caused consternation and much ado among the passengers. Ferry rides are becoming standard fare as are the magnificent views of the fjords. The girls read or played games most of the way. We arrived in Bergen around 1930 and proceeded to the P-Hotel in city center. We had to leave the car in a parking garage as there was none to be found. The accomodations were reminiscent of our trip to Rome with small cramped rooms and a view of the dirty, cacaphonous streets. The weather had turned sunny and after settling in. our party traveled to city center for drinks, dinner and shopping. The nights get a little darker than Trondheim allowing for better sleeping conditions.
