Flag of Canada  , Quebec,
Thursday, October 4, 2007

So it was with a deep melancholy (and big bagel addiction) that we left New York. We flew across the border to Montral in a tiny American Eagle plane. Once we landed we battled our way onto one of the few 'shuttle' buses, which didn't do a great deal of shuttling in the godawful traffic. We finally made it to the Montreal main bus station to catch an 'express' onward bus to Quebec, which also got stuck in traffic. We finally pulled up into Quebec late in the evening.

Quebec is a small and very quaint city, though we didn't really see much outside of the Old Town in our short stay. We only had one full day and spent it exploring the streets within the old city walls at a slow pace. It seems to be quite an exclusive little place with lots of restaurants and shops for people with lots of cash. Not really up our alley, but very pretty all the same. We found a lovely little market on our wanderings and bought some local maple syrup - Tim is already addicted. Apart from that we admired the local buildings, including the enormous and very grand Chateau Frontenac Hotel, and took a walk above the river along the Terrasse Dufferin. Most people here speak French. Unfortunately we keep resorting to 'si' instead of 'oui' which has been nothing short of embarassing...

Please stay tuned for photos, Im looking for a computer with USB so I can upload...
