It really is very hot here- apologies if you are still enduring, rather than enjoying our cruel British summer. The remorseless heat means that after a while you begin to crave some shade. Which is a little difficult when you are on a beach with a lot of children who want to be buried in the sand, or play a game, or who may require the odd flare up of tempers to be doused.

Thankfully the sea provides a sanctuary for the over-heated and games in the water with the kids are a lot of fun, especially for the not-so grown-ups in the team. As with every year, some of the children are making their first visit to the sea and they like to stay at the cusp of the water, leaping the lapping waves and making tentative plunges into the seaweed filled backwash. The more confident boldly claim the breaking waves and , eel-like, glide beneath the surface to rise smiling with the simplest of pleasures. The eldest have to be restrained from their desire to swim out of their depth, daring the currents. There is a constant battle between the Lipnitsa teachers (and SC youth team) and these erstwhile Phelp'ses, with safety and freedom vying in the surf. The lifeguards look on, whistles poised, and make the odd dash towards those who ignore their imprecations. "Come back" , they call, like sirens of Baywatch.

The children could not be happier. They are having the time of their lives here as the team play with them and juggle and craft. We'd post some more pictures but some joker has run off with the camera- we'll post them later.

Note from the editor: We're very sorry but it appears as though somebody has let Mr Parsons onto the blog-site today. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

Mr Parsons' hat looks much more fetching on that lad; tho' I'd prefer to see it on Mr Parsons while he was buried up to his neck in sand!
