Where I stayed

Today was our first full day with the Lipnitsa kids and full really is the word. Another day of beautiful sunshine allowed us to get to the sea early to make the most of the morning. After yesterday's strong wind and large waves the sea was really calm but we had something else to contend with; seaweed. The water was so thick with it you could nearly walk on it and getting into the water required a fair amount of wading through this soup to get to clearer water. I think some of us will be removing seaweed from our hair for weeks to come.

It was really great to spend time in the water and on the beach just playing and relaxing with the children. One or two of the little ones are at the seaside for the first time and others have been to several camps before and are eager to play with the youth team and get into the water.

The afternoon started with a siesta and then it was time for arts, crafts and fun with Pete’s juggling workshop. This time is really special for the children; they rarely get to do these kinds of activities and they especially love to have their faces painted. Several of the kids have real aptitude for juggling too so they enjoyed their time using Pete’s equipment. Too see just how good some of them are click here.

We have been invited to take part in a hotel talent contest tomorrow night so we practised a song called "King of the jungle" 9complete with humorous actions) and we are determined to give our fellow guests a good show. In addition to the song a couple of the kids will juggle too- the Russians won’t know what’s hit 'em!

Before dinner we did our first Christian teaching session- Daniel and the lion’s den. The kids had made lion masks in the afternoon session and Chris & Chris were enthusiastically eaten in their role of the wicked servants who framed Daniel!

We are looking forward to a good night’s sleep after a full day- only another eight to go!
