Otaru is 30 mins from Sapporo and the most adorable little town. There is a Snow Gleaming festival on at the moment (the Japanese love their festivals!). There are candles and snow sculptures lining the streets and people go walking through the candles at night. Again, it`s a lovely atmosphere (if a little calmer than Sapporo!) and I love it. This town is renowned for its glass blowing and music boxes. I even had a go at glass blowing and made a quite decent glass! Whether I can get it home in one piece is a different matter! The hostel I`m in here is so friendly and cosy. I am going to come back after my next stop!

I think they may be looking for blowers - something to do when you get back. I only got to make pipettes when I was a lad!
