We then took an early morning but to Pamukkale, which means Cotton Castle. Here, high amounts of calcium carbonate in the thermal spa waters come to the surface and the calcium separates out of the water and creates these white rocks that pool down in levels. The waters are supposed to have healing properties if you swim in it and if you drink it. It was kind of expensive to go swimming and we didn't have a lot of time so we didn't do that. But I filled up my water bottle with the water to drink.
Instead of swimming, we looked at the museum they had up there. Pamukkale is also an ancient city and on the bus ride to the pool, we passed a necropolis that had tons of sarcophagi. The museum in is an ancient Roman bath house. This is also an active archaeological site so there were lots that were blocked off.
After all of this, we are taking a night bus to Seljuk. Not much sleep tonight. More thumbnails ...
