We'll always have Paris...
Entry 30 of 32 | show all | print this entry |
We have to travel First Class (an extra 100 Euros more!) as there are no Second Class tickets for this train left! The woman at the desk says we should have booked at least 2 weeks ago!
We checked in to our hotel in Marais, wandered around a bit and saw the Republique monument. Walked into Chanel at Rue Cambon and I bought a gorgeous 2.55 bag, I will always remember the experience of buying it in Paris!!
Over the next 4 days we saw so much:
* Eiffel Tower (of course, we stood under it but didn't go up - too scared of heights..eeep!), * Arc de Triomphe, an amazing street market in the median strip of a road that had the best galettes (savoury crepes) that we tasted in all of Paris..the next day the market had disappeared!) * The Louvre (unbeknownst to us it was daylight savings and we turned up about 2 hours before it opened!) * Pigalle & Montmartre * The "Japanese Quarter" where we had dinner two nights in a row!! Missed sushi and nori hand rolls, I usually have them every day for lunch and never saw any throughout Europe..hehe!! * Pere Lachaise cemetery (saw this on a day where we were relaxing (!) and just wanted to walk somewhere with gardens where we didn't have to do much). Saw Chopin & Jim Morrison's graves.
We had dinner at a French restaurant one night and Clay ordered snails. I tried one and it was quite nice! All I could really taste was the garlic sauce that covered them anyway.
Unfortunately we will be leaving tomorrow to Singapore, and will be leaving Europe. At least I will be meeting my sister over there, which makes me a bit happier!
