Can't believe it is day 86, and 800 miles completed! Thursday I had the pleasure of Carrie and her partner (sorry, lousy memory for names!) and her 3 dogs Holly, Jazz and Monty for company walking the Macclesfield canal. Thankfully the weather was kind to us that day. I have found on my travels that there is never a dull day, that day being no exception! We came across some cows that had gone 'IN' the canal for a drink and then wandered up the canal where they couldn't get out! Thankfully Carrie was able to get a number to let someone know. More money was raised that day and leaflets handed out (please remember to keep those donations coming in for Dogs Trust and Oldies Club) thanks to Carrie, everyone she passed, either walking or on canal boat, she would announce, "this lady is walking John O'Groats to Lands End"!!! It was a fun day, enjoyed by all. Jazz particularly enjoyed the moment he found a shallow, muddy bit of canal water to bathe in! Friday I had Ben for company along the canal, which was lovely. Padi and Paris also joined us for the first hour or so. To be honest I really did not think the walk would be as long as it was, but I am very proud of him, we completed 10 miles. I thought he was going to be stiff the next day, but he was fine, but then he did have a long rest in Padi's tent, as it rained all day Saturday! That was the day that I had a very early live interview with Jill on BBC Radio Wiltshire, 6.10am, been a while since I've had to set the alarm for 5.30 in the morning! It went well, so hopefully a few more of you are checking out this website. :) After leaving that canal I joined the Gritstone Trail and then the Staffordshire Way, which today included the Calden Canal which was beautiful with all the wild flowers, butterflies and dragonflies.
