Wow Fiji was hot! As I stepped out of the airport at 7am I were hit by a wave of heat and it only got hotter with my stay.
I decided early on that 17 days in Fiji was too much so I changed my flights to give me a comfortable 10 days to enjoy the country.
I spent alot of time on the mainland staying at Nadi Bay Hotel however I also got to see 3 of the islands. These included Robinson Crusoe, South Sea Island and Waya. I did a daytrip to Robinson Crusoe where I had a relaxing back massage on the beach, watched a traditional dance and fire show and finally did a bush walk with the local medicine man.
I spent a few hours on South Sea Island one day and I have to say anyone wanting a true paradise island then this would be it. It was truly beautiful.  One thing I got to do here was go on a submerged boat which meant looking at the seabed full of coral and fish. It was amazing. This got me interested in snorkelling so I tried that. Ryan got quite frustrated with me but I kept at it and soon I was snorkelling away and got to see a blue starfish -yea!
I stayed two nights on Waya Island in the Yasawa's at Octopus Resort. The place was lovely I would recommend it to everyone. Here I experienced a Kava (the national drink of Fiji) ceremony. It wasn't the best taste but I'm glad I got to try would have been bad to have been all the way to Fiji and not tried it. On Waya I did a hike. It was hard due to the ridiculous heat and the fact that we walked every terrain imaginable. However to put it in perspective the guides did it in bare feet!!! I really enjoyed the hike, it showed the true beauty of Waya.
On leaving Waya I witnessed the reason Fiji call February the wet season, it poured down all day and into the next day and even on the way to the airport the rain still poured. It seems we left Fiji at a good time. Next stop is New Zealand!
