hey,
sorry for the delay..
monday morning we set out for mt rushmore. it didn't take us long and the weather was much better. pretty impressive site, but neither one of us knew any thing about it so we stuck around for the 15 minute long movie about the carving of the monument.
After that we decided to head up straight up to yellowstone. Once we hit Wyoming, we over heard a tourist information worker suggesting that campers take the low road, as the other path to yellowstone is much steeper and had been closed on account of the snow just the previous night. We followed this advise trying to give the truck the easiest route
The snow was melting along the mountains as we wound our way through them. We decided on a camp in Thermopolis, the home of the largest mineral hot spring. We checked out these pools on the way in (but couldn't take a dip), found our campsite, but turned around for a bite at a bowling ally, the only restaurant in town. man it hit the spot.
We've stayed evernight in the camper so far and it is still comfortable, but on this night I couldn't get the furnace to work. After a solid hours fight, I gave up and decided to check the propane level in the morning. it wasn't to chilly. In the morning i found that our campsite refills tanks, and while it wasn't empty, I thought the additional presure might help the cause, so they topped it off, but i didn't test it.
We set off for yellowstone....
(the next entry is just to show where we stayed on the map, but the pictures and descriptions are in evinston's night)
