Well....I overnighted in Ft Lauderdale at the Ramada Inn Airport hotel ...which was cheap. I really have no complaints seeing the price I was paying and it was better than I expected. There is a free shuttle service, its abt 7-10 min away from the airport. There was a onsite bar...which I took advantage off. I mingled with the other guest at the bar...and I guess I had the advantage of being the only lady there....I was being given full attention. There was a complimentry breakfast...which I have to say is well worth it. I then caught my flight to Austin. We arrived earlier than schedule and there was another aircraft at our gate with maintenance problems...so we waited well over half hour on the ground waiting for some directions
On the flight, I chatted with a gentleman who told me Austin's motto is "Keep It Weird" and that I have to go to downtown Austin to have a cultural and musical experience.
So...down town we did go. It was super hot (and im from a tropical island...but it never gets that hot)! It took awhile to get adjusted to...but..I think I managed fine.
Downtown was rather interesting. Lots of hangout joints...I saw several bands playing.
It happened to be some Harley Davidson Rally weekend. Well doing some research now...I see it called ROT (Republic of Texas) Rally 2009 which is the biggest biker rally in Texas. As you can imagaine. There were hundreds of bikers and their bikes all over the place. Streets were closed off to allow this event to happen. I was definitly liking it. I like bikes...so this was a unexpected highlight event for me. This lasted throughout the first weekend. We visited downtown often.
My bf needed to get some stuff uploaded on his laptop so he had a hook up with some computer genius. We had to find his house somewhere on the outskirts of Downtown..and he was getting lost finding this place. All I have to say...there is a whole lot big nothing around. I didn't mind though...it got me out of the norm of what ppl generally see
Well, we stayed in Austin for about 5-6 days and then drove to Forthworth.
I think forthworth is quaint. It just seems that way to me. I could be wrong. Anyway, I had a wilder time in forthworth stangely enough! It wasn't so much so about the bars etc. But...I met more ppl there. Meeting ppl is always the best for me.
I was given the Down Town Forth Worth Tour...lol...aka my BF. It is actually rather small but nice. We hung out in a park where I listened to him play his guitar. We checked out the ForthWorth Stock Yard...which is about the only few thing I have photos off. I hung out at some biker bar...and played fossball.
It is here that I attempted to smoke a roach. Which ..I failed at. I figure...it's not for me and they say don't knock it till you try it.
It is also in Forthworth that I tried mushrooms. OMG.... it was ..do I there say bizarre experience. I mean..it was rather fun...but...I am not sure I like having limited control of my laughter fits. In any case..I swear...everything looked like boobies. (Is this a sign of where my minds at?). I however was not alone in doing this and thankfully my bf was not interested in any of it...but yet instegated it all for a good laugh at the stumbling, cloud chasing, giggling, noise making in the pool of peace fools we were.
Well....as my wonderful vacation came close to its end...we drove back up to Austin. I have some very good memories..and experiences to say the least.
Look out for some more photos...as i'll post them as I get them.
