We had an early start today ... jet lag woke Emma up at 4am but she did manage to fall asleep again for which we were very grateful.

When we finally woke up we went to Universal Studios which is the original of the two theme parks.  This has some of the very original rides like Terminator 3D and Men in Black.  We again got in early and managed to do a few rides.  What struck us was how quiet the park was till around lunchtime - then it really did get busy.

We shot aliens in Men in Black, did the new Simpsons ride (our favourite), managed to escape being eaten by Jaws and rode with ET over the tree-tops.  Again we all enjoyed the rides - it is great fun.  We managed to have our lunch in Mel's diner - which is an old 50's diner complete with booths, juke boxes and the old cars outside.

Again the weather was hot - even more so than yesterday.  So the air conditioned rides are great.  There is a new ride there called Hollywood Rip Ride which looks such a scary rollercoaster ride.  Needless to say we didn't go on this.

After lunch Paul stayed in the park to go on the Mummy ride as it had been shut all morning.  Emma and I walked back to the Hotel through the gardens as there was no boat waiting :-(

We then took a welcome dip in the pool and relaxed a bit.  We tried a new restaurant for dinner - The Olive Garden and really enjoyed this - very good italian food which made a very welcome break from all the burgers, hot dogs and fries.
