Well, this is certainly a beachfront location and the noise of the waves being so close it is almost deafning.

The hotel is in a lovely location but rooms are very small especially when you put a roll-away bed in too.  The view is what you pay for rather than the facilities but it has a nice beach where you can get beds, towels and umberellas all for free.

Thursday 30/7/09

Woke up incredibly early after a very restless nights sleep and we decided to do a Walmart trip. The saving grace of our trip I think is the SAT NAV.  Instead of Paul shouting at me regarding the directions he has no-one now to blame but the lovely voice who tells us where to go.  The road systems here are incredibly complicated with hundreds of lanes going everywhere and so many cars but she seems to cut through all of that.

We did our Walmart trip and had breakfast at a very nice restaurant where Emma eat 6 pancakes and we had the all american breakfast special - it was just what we needed.

Got back to the hotel and the weather was clearing so we spent some time on the beach.  Emma has had a boogie board and so spent some time practicing her technique with the waves and Daddy helping.  She looked like a real surfer dude.  I tried to jump the waves but they are so strong I ended up doing a bit of body boarding so decided to go back to the sunlounger for fear of really embarassing myself.

In the afternoon we drove up to see Hollywood and all it has to offer.  We saw the 'HOLLYWOOD' sign up close.  Drove up Mullholland Drive and had a panoramic view of the whole city which was amazing.  We then drove back down to the city via Multiview drive which twisted and turned and was the home to some amazing houses.  We then did the chinese theatre and walked amongst the stars.  It's an incredibly busy place with loads going on - a bit run down in places but it is getting better.  We did manage to drive past Paramount studios and see some of the filming going on through the gates.  We ate dinner at Johnny Rockets as it would have been rude not to have hot dogs, burgers and fries and then even gave you the ketchup in the shape of a smiley face.

A really good first day.

Emma says :  I liked the Hello Kitty shop and mummy bought me some lovely sleep shorts and bubblegum for me and my friends.  I liked going on my boogie board in the sea even though I kept falling off.  I enjoyed my sleep as I was very very tired.
