Day 8:
We then went to Heidelberg to go to Oscar's favorite German restaurant. He drove me along the river so I could see the town and the castle set into the hills. It was a really nice area. It wasn't raining much, so we walked down the main strip. There was some festival going on. People were everywhere and they had stands in front of the shops and bands playing. It was weird to hear so much pop music and songs from the US about the US. We ate at the restaurant and I was required to get their famous pork knuckle. I had a salad, too, since I haven't seemed to eat many vegetables the last few days. It was all very good, of course. I'm pretty sure I lost a few years off my life by eating it, but oh well. I looked at the dessert menu and saw something interesting. It was pancake pieces and plum compote. It was also very good. I can't figure out why their pancakes and fries and stuff are better than ours. I'll have to look it up sometime and see if I can replicate. I've also noticed that they pretty much use crepes as tortillas around here. They'll wrap anything in a crepe. After eating, we walked around some more. Everything smelled so good. We saw some interesting stuff as you can see in the pictures. After walking around for a bit, we left to get some beers at the American bar. We drank and talked the rest of the night, then went home.
