Where I stayed
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Much like working in parks, and traveling in parks, you don't have the
day to day accommodations of the luxury of constantly being connected
via telephone or internet to the outside world.
We traveled from Estes Park, CO to Grand Junction,
CO to stay with my friend Michael Harmeling. The majority of the trip
Kate spent sleeping, while Bethany and I enjoyed views of a "road trip".
The next morning we woke up to rain outside. How unusual, for a state with over 300 days of sunshine
On the road we made our way to the Colorado National Monument entrance, "in the fog". Lucky for us the fog started to lift and we could see more and more of the park, as we were drinking "Washington's Best (Startbucks)".
Rather than just being tourists we did manage to stop by and talk to some LE Rangers including the Chief, put faces to some names, and get an idea of what this park had to offer. Felons seem to like small parks too. A wanted sex offender, apparently tried to commit suicide here by driving his van off the cliff, which landed perfectly on a rock, and he was arrested later.
