Today was a quiet day in Lucerne. We slept in big time, which was nice, but that meant we missed the breakfast at the hotel. It also meant I didn't get a cup of coffee until late in the day. By this time, it was too late. I had two cups of coffee yet I'm still dragging.
We went to the Picasso museum here in Lucerne. The museum has some artwork, but is really a bunch of photos taken by Daniel Duncan of Picasso and family members - e.g. Lump, Picasso's wiener dog. It was very quiet there although we did have a little excitement getting our tickets. They didn't take credit cards - the best way to avoid having to carry local currency - so we had to bust out the Euros. This guy and some old cash register really started having some trouble. He couldn't do the math right and it seriously took like 10 minutes to buy an 8 dollar ticket. At one point he couldn't get the register to open up and was calling all sorts of people
After Carrie did some work, we hopped in the car and drove around the lake, see pictures. Amazing scenery as some of the clouds broke. I decided to be bold and drive back WITHOUT using the navigation system...boy did I learn my lesson. After many wrong turns, one going into a bus station (ya know, only where the buses go) and another of turning onto a sidewalk next to a one-way street, I quickly repented and typed in our hotel and was immediately directed home...whew...
Tomorrow will be an early day and a big day of driving. We're going to one of Carrie's company's factories in SZ, then heading to France. Internet may get spotty again.

. He even busted out the manual. Eventually he figured it out. I felt bad for him, but at the same time it's a museum with a big board that says "Credit Cards Not Accepted, Euros accepted."After Carrie did some work, we hopped in the car and drove around the lake, see pictures. Andy found you! Third floor, next to right red banner. FINALLY! Pictures of your new car. Nice parking lot. I did not realize you added photos to your earlier entries. Sounds like you are having a great time. Enjoy... and be safe!!!
I am green with envy! ;-)
Sounds like you are having a lot of fun. Snow in May - wow! By the way, I noticed on the picture of your car's dashboard there is another 40mph, above 120mph available at your disposal, how come? ;-))))

Hello The Pancake (and Carrie)
Pics of Lucerne are great. Was amused by the pic of the speedo (odometer, that is). (Car pick-up post.) 120 mph and a huge 7 mpg! Hmmmm, so whatever happened to the 'break-in period'? Or is that a figment of my antiquated past? Anywho, glad you are enjoying the trip. By the way, Boeing has decided to stop all work in honor of your trip. - Bill P
bitching and moaning
Wanted to let you know we have been following your travels since day one. Sounds like a total and complete blast. Only one thing, whats the guy driving the new BMW across Europe bitching and moaning about the price of internet for? ha!
Bring me back some German beer...
Looks/sounds like a great trip so far. While you are exploring beautiful countrysides I am changing poopy diapers. Wanna trade?
Enjoy the trip.
Question: Do they install the wood paneling on your stationwagon there in Germany or do they wait until you're back in the states?
