After leaving Indonesia, we head toward Malaysia and the island of Penang. We take this super choopy express ferry from Sumatra to Penang, just finishing the journey before I know I'm going to be sick. Then Justin and I and Paul (a Brit we met on the boat) split a room and just chill, beacuse Malaysia is so different from Indonesia...many English speakers, ease of travel, little bargaining, etc. Georgetown is pretty nice being that it was the capital of the old British colony. So there's quite a few English speakers here and a lot of the architecture is European. Today, I'm just basically hanging out and relaxing and getting situated before leaving tomorrow. After rereading my guidebook and having traveled a bit, I think I'll skip Borneo because of time and money and just concentrate on mainland Malaysia instead. This will allow me to spend time in Laos now, which I was going to skip for time purposes. So, for now, the plan is to go to Cameron Highlands, scuba dive off Tioman, hike the rainforest, scuba off Perhentian, then head for Thailand around the 17th and the full moon party 1Kek Sok Li

Anyway, Justin and I decide to check out Georgetown a bit and we go shopping, me for some new shorts (mine were absolutely wrecked after jungle trekking) and a small backpack. We also eat some Dominos pizza, which was pretty good and the first American style pizza I've had in two years. Later we end up at Kek Sokli, the biggest temple in Malaysia, which is a mix of Thai, Burmese, and Malaysian architecture. We walk through this maze of a market, where people are selling everything imaginable and come to this huge religious complex, that is rather difficult to describe, so I'll let the picture describe since they'll do it far better justice. I already love Malaysia...am off to the worlds oldest rainforest tomorrow for some hiking (called Cameron Highlands) and then, not sure, either Kuala Lumpur or the Perhentian islands for great beaches and diving! I honestly have no idea and will probably just decide tomorrow by opening my guide book and seeing which one grabs me!!
