. Wednesday is pretty much the same except there is a music class instead of sports and the kids flip flop the previous night activity. Thursday starts with the normal class and drama is moved up. In drama class, the students either come up with a skit or I give them one...we have done such things as a fashion show, a hospital comedy, and random dramas like remakes of old Disney play such as Snow Black Goes to Madagascar. It's pretty tough on the students because they just aren't used to expressing themselves, but it's definitely good practice for them and some of them are truly good actors. Anyway, after drama class, there is a team scavenger hunt and then after lunch the students go on a filed trip to this herb farm in the mountains where they make a herb bag and herb soap and get to play around. Back at the school, they get some beach time before dinner and then after dinner a quiz show class precedes our school carnival, where we have games and food all served up in a carnival-type atmosphere. On the final day, Friday, we have our last class followed by the drama show. Then they pretty much just do a small evaluation, have lunch, and head to the buses for the journey home.
So it was good to finally get back into teaching and it's a good gig as there's a lot of variety built into the program we have. We have 26 five day camps and 20 or so one day camps, so the work load certainly isn't overwhelming, though I know I'll struggle through those "office weeks"!
After a month of office BS and preparation, we finally had our first students. It was definitely good timing because if the students hadn't have come this week there were probably going to be a few "office blowups" between some teachers and between some teachers and some staff workers! I was very happy because, as I said before, I already knew I would really like this job when we had students, and probably not so much when we didn't have students. So, our first group of students came and as would be expected, they were pretty shy on the first day, but loosened up as the week passed. Monday was basically an orientation day and at night there is a movie program. Tuesday, we start with a 30 minute class, then have two experience center classes, and then a drama class before lunch. After lunch there are two more experience center classes and then our sports program, which consists of dodgeball, basketball, soccer, badminton, and potentially volleyball. At night the students either have a computer class or make pizzas and then play games
