After arriving back from Taketomi, we happy to find that there was some sort of festival going on that night. It turned out to be the Orion Beer Festival and Fireworks Show (Orion is like Coors to Colorado or Lone Star to Texas) and they had all kinds of bands playing and vendors selling food and, of course, Orion beer. As we're walking around we see three Japanese girls that stayed at the same hostel on Iriomote as we did, so we join them just hanging out watching the bands. Many beers later, and many more new Japanese friends later, Bill and I are dancing and singing along with some famous Okinawan pop band and having a good old time with our group of about 10-15 Japanese people that is slowly increasing in size by the hour! What ele can I say - great music, great people - we had a great time!
The next day, our last day in Okinawa, I went scuba diving at Kabira Bay, this picturesque bay with beautiful deep emerald-colored waters. It was a good time - if you don't scuba dive you just don't know and if you do dive you already know! After diving I went to a great spot on the southwest part of the island to check out the sunset and was awarded was a gorgeous sunset that sank into the East China Sea overlooking Japan's most remote and wild island, Iriomote! Fantastic vacation!
