So funny, today on the train to work, I sit down and start to read a book when this Japanese girl says hello to me. This is actually unusual because no one usually talks to me on the train. Anyway, she says hello in English so we begin to talk. We chat about Texas and how she used to live in LA, but couldn't finish school because her or her family didn't have the money. Then I ask where she's going as a conversation filler and she says to get money from a job she did last week. I ask what job and she says she worked at a health club for a week. Intrigued, I ask what she did and she says "falachyo". I couldn't understand, so I ask again and, again, she says "falachyo". Still unable to understand, I ask again and she says forget it but now I really want to know so I lean closer to hear batter and I hear "fellatio"! This cant be right I think and as I look back at her she says "you know, I touch dick with mouth"!
Barely able to keep myself from busting out laughing, I relax back into my calm manner and begin to ask her about this...questions such as "is it good money" and "so, is there like a hole in the wall or do you go into the same room"! This is great because the Japanese are usually so guarded about things like this, but unfortunately her train stop was the next stop and I was only able to find out how her mother was very angry with her and made her quit! Anyway, just wanted to share this funny story that was obviously funnier in person.
The rest of the week involved working at HQ doing voiceovers for the listening CDs for our workbooks, an interesting change from the normal day. I also went to the Hyogo Prefectural Art Museum with Mika and Paul. We saw the Klimt exhibit...it was nice to get out to a museum again and I'd like to see a few more soon, maybe in Kyoto. The best thing about the museum was that Paul and I spied some really nice basketball courts nearby and have made a plan to go for the day soon! After the museum, we went to Suma Beach in Kobe. It was pretty much a disappointment because of how trashed it was! Its amazing to me that the Japanese keep their cities and trains so clean, although you'd be damn hard-pressed to find one trash can anywhere, but anytime there's an outdoor festival or a beach or something, they absolutely trash it and no one picks up their trash! But, it was nice to be outside and as dark approached, we sat on a beach patio and had a few drinks before hitting my favorite restaurant, all you can eat Brazilian beef!!
