Halloween Blues

Day 16 - 10.31.02 (Thu) Halloween - Bummed. They don't celebrate Halloween, which is one of my favorite holidays. There are a few bars that have parties, but I had to work late (until 9 pm) and the bars are not close and since the trains stop early, there's really no point to go to the trouble for 30 minutes of celebration. Anyway, my company is so stupid, apparently they desperately need teachers for children, which I told them over and over that I wanted to teach children, and they put in a branch with basically no kids. It's very difficult to understand how these corporations make millions of dollars when you see how mismanaged they are up close and the lack of thought that goes into their thinking and decision making. I also found out that we live in the Japanese version of the ghetto, surrounded by Yakuza and prostitution! Needless to say, Craig and I are starting to look for a new apartment to save money and I also might start looking for a new job so that I can work with kids. I'll give it a month or so before I really get in to looking...there is so much opportunity to teach here that it shouldn't be a problem finding another job. A smaller company, definitely.
