Day 8 - 10.23.02 (Wed) Roommate 2 - It's been exactly one week since I arrived and what have I learned: lots of positives and negatives...1) I miss my family and friends more than I ever thought I could or would, 2) not that I ever was, but I WILL NEVER be anything but overly friendly to foreigners in our country, 3) I took for granted so many things while living in both Colorado and Austin (friends, family, the outdoors, simple freedoms, watched way too much TV...too many to list), 4) that I love being close and accessible to the outdoors and will never again live anywhere that doesn't offer that, 5) if I come home early, which I thought I would consider myself a failure if I did so, it won't be a failure because of what I have learned in just one weeks time, 6) that I miss dogs way too much ;), and 7) that as I look at my screen saver, which is a picture of a bunch of friends in Austin two weekends before I left, that I'm damn lucky to have such good friends. Enough for now, more to follow soon. Met the new roommate tonight, Bill from Scotland...he seems a really cool guy as well. He's into photography, mostly landscape and eventually wants to be a freelance landscape photographer (something I'd like to get into, so maybe this will help). Oh yeah, we hear this huge ruckus with sirens and such outside the front door and came out in time to witness the Japanese police drag some guy out of his car and mess him up bad!! Note to self: do not @#*! with the Japanese police...man those dudes were bad!
