We booked an overnight sleeper bus to Guilin and just hung out during the day...it's so freakin humid down here so I've mostly just been staying indoors during the day...Taiyuan was hot, but it was a dry heat and getting used to the humidity is a bitch! At night we took a car to the bus station in Dongguan and caught our slightly unpleasant and uncomfortable bus, which we would be inform 9 pm to 8 am! Obviously, a sleepless night followed as there are three aisles of top and bottom beds...I was placed in the first row on the top bed in the middle aisle. This meant that there was a 17 inch flat screen hanging over top of my legs, a 6 inch speaker directly above my head, and being the middle row, the sides of the bed were much too thin for my shoulders. Being in the top bed also means being further subjected to the sways and swervings of the bus as it careens through highways and traffic. Because of its location this also meant I couldn't sit up as it is too low a ceiling and very uncomfortable and also because I would have been blocking the TV screen from everyone else in the bus 01local brew

. As I said, a sleepless night followed......
...and upon arriving in Guilin we grabbed a bus to Yangshuo, where I had already been but was relegated to doing nothing the whole time I was there as the weather sucked and I had food poisoning. Kham was tired a took a nap so I took a mountain bike out to Aishan village and the surrounding SE area. Kham was made I didn't wake and ivite her, but the truth was I didn't want her to go anyways because I was gonna go all-out and I would have been mad at her for going so slow and she would have been mad at me for going too fast! It's a great place with wonderful scenery - green rice fields, giant towering hills that seem to have just popped out of the ground, rivers and caves and hiking and rafting are all available. There isn't so much to do at night, mostly just chill out, so we just hung out and read and had a good sleep.
