We headed to Oxford for the last day of our Wicked tour. We had a really nice day - once we actually got going! The campground that we stayed at was actually shut for the year, but they let us stay anyway (which was very nice of them!) But when we got up, the local concrete guy had pulled his truck into the only exit, to fix the camp pool!!!
Anyway, eventually we extracted Bessy and we were off to the Park & Ride, and into Oxford. We did a walking tour of the town, which was quite enjoyable. We learnt a bit about the history, and got to see a couple of the colleges as well.
What we did get to see was several places that were used during the filming of the Harry Potter movies, including the Great Hall @ Christchurch College (the sorting ceremonies), and the rooms & garden areas used for the hospital scenes, the library & when they turn Malfoy into a ferret!!
We saw the pub where Bob Hawke holds the record for sculling the quickest Yard glass (The Turf Tavern), and the Eagle & Child pub - yeah, weird name! - Tolkeien & CS Lewis compared their ever expanding fantasy worlds.
We headed off from Oxford at about 5pm and back into London to Mark & Vanessa's. Our Wicked van jaunt was officially over. Just had to return the van the next day ... but not before we managed to get ourselves a £60 parking ticket!!!! Long story!
Anyway .... we forgot all the parking troubles by going to see the Wallabies play the Barbarians at Wembley Stadium!!!!
It was really cool to watch live - we were behind the goals and sooo close to the action! We went as part of the Australian Fanatics, so we had the awesome yellow beanies! (And got chatted up by some old drunk guy at KFC on the way home, so a good night all round!)
See ya
