After lunch with Gina in Scotland, we headed the 4 hours back into England, to York. We had about 4 days left to see the sights in the Wicked van, so there was no time to waste.

We pulled into York with only 5 pounds to our names ... then the ATM refused to recognise my card!!! It was late, so we headed to a campsite first (thinking we could sort the money out later). The lady there said they were shut for the season, but said we could stay ... and luckily for us, she only wanted A FIVER!!!!!!

After a head's up from the caravan park lady re: the cost of parking in York centre, we headed to the local Park & Ride. After an eternity of driving around trying to find a parking spot, we were eventually on our way & into the city centre.

The original York walls are still very much intact & we had a nice afternoon walking through the old medieval streets & lanes - especially The Shambles (apparently the oldest in England). We popped our heads into the York Munster, a massive old church with very interesting stained-glass windows.

We also bought ourselves a traditional Yorkshire Tart - like custard, but curd instead. Will let you know how it goes down as dessert.

After the bus trip back we headed south again, to Nottingham, for a little bit of Robin Hood nostalgia.
