We headed up to Oban in Scotland to see Chris - a lady we met during our time in South America. We saw some nice countryside on the way up ... before it got too dark to see anymore!

When we arrived at Chris' we got settled in to stay for a couple of nights, then we walked into town for a nice meal. Oban is a town on the west coast that has a lot of ferry traffic (and the occasional flood through the local shops if the waters get too nasty!) Chris is up high on a hill, with great views of the countryside & the well-lit port just on her doorstep.

Next morning, after a traditional Scottish breaky - black, white & fruit pudding included - we piled into Bessy (our Wicked van) for a tour of the local countryside. We had a great day. Saw the ruins of Castle Kilchurn, heaps of awesome photo ops - including snow on the mountains, and lots of Chris' old haunts (as she was born & raised around the Oban area).

When we left Chris', we couldn't head up & across like we wanted to, due to bad weather and the roads. Whilst the weather was actually ok where we went (we headed towards Perth), there was some snow around, and apparently it was alot worse further North.

We stopped at a place called Crieff and did the Famous Grouse Experience - a tour of the Glenturret Scotch Whiskey Distillery. Despite neither of us actually liking Scotch very much, it was still an interesting tour.

We continued on to Perth to have a bit of a look around, then had the drama of finding a campsite. The Tourist Information (TIC) lady in Perth gave us a brochure just like the Wales one - only we wern't having the same sort of luck!

Finally, one almost an hour away would accept us since it was getting late (they don't normally accept 'home conversion' vehicles). So we got there, cooked dinner & then settled in for likely our coldest night so far.

Extra clothes (and cuddles!!!) should get us through.
