Sorry about so many reports altogether, but when you get hold of a computer, you catch up!!!
So we left Wales, and drove back across in England & up towards Carlisle. We had a simple plan of sleeping the night, then getting up the next morning to head to Hadrian's Wall a few miles away.
WELL ....
We didn't have any camping information sheets, so we thought we'd take our chances with the Sat Nav to find some camping ... unfortunately Jane/Kate took us to a private residence (that never looked like it could have been a campsite!).
So we found ourselves a little rest stop outside of Carlisle - you know, the ones with the little signs of a picnic table under a tree - and we had already discussed that we may have to sleep roadside if we couldn't find camping.
BUT THIS ONE WAS DODGE!!!! There were already two cars there when we arrived - no problems - but it was already dark, so we started to organise our dinner.
But more cars kept turning up - ALL MEN - and they were coming (yeah, I can laugh about it now too!) & going, into the bush, off in each other's cars. It was either the slowest drug deals in history ... or men being a little bit naughty ... either way, we were out there!
So we ate our dinner (locked in the car), then drove off and found a large pull (enough already!) in with about 4 big trucks in it - now that was the place for us!
We got up the next morning & headed to Hadrian's Wall. Now if you tell anyone that we climbed on an ancient Roman archeological site, we will just deny it!!!!
It was actually very interesting ... and very windy! We made several stops along the wall at various sections, turrets, milecastles & ruins.
Afterwards we made a quick stop in at Carlisle - a much nicer place than the rest stop the night before - to email a friend quickly before heading off to Scotland.

turkey anyone!
Glad to hear Ian hasn't had much of a chance to ride, that might give the rest of us a chance to keep up when he gets back. He should be careful that Kylie isn't trying to fatten him up for Xmas.
