After being dropped back at the port by our nice Santorini man, we caught the ferry to Mykonos, arriving just before 3pm. It was an even crazier port than Santorini was!!!
It's much more expensive there, but we managed to find a semi-reasonable price and off we went.We were only able to have the room for two nights (coz the lady had a reservation), but we thought we'd try out Mykonos Camping (on the other side of the island) when she dropped us back to the port after the 2 days. We had a quick swim in our hotel pool (with a really nice view over the beach & island), then made the what turned out to be 45 minute walk into town to find supplies. The supermarket here was nothing like the real ones on Santorini!
The next day we walked back into the old port (only took us 40 minutes this time!) and bought tickets on the boat to the island of Delos
On the third day we got dropped back to the port by our lady and picked up some accomo with Mykonos Camping. They drove us to their campsite area (on the opposite side of the island) right next to the main beaches on the island. We decided on a cheap tent / bungalow (a canvas tent with a lockable door!), then went to look around. We only walked in one direction, unfortunately, the "party" was happening in he other! We met a cool couple called Kellie (Aus) and Paul (Eng) and they filled us in on what we had missed on Paradise Beach - wall to wall people, dancing and partying, many of them naked! Apparently, quite a laugh!
We shared dinner with our new friends - a really nice one pan fry up (of what they had already & what we could afford to buy!), then we headed out to see the night party. But there was nothing happening!!! The Ministry of Sound were playing at a club on Paradise Beach that night, but there was no one to be found! Apparently 11pm is too early for night time action ..
Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check out the beach scene today, because after seeing the campsite and the price of food and drink here (we had to pay $4 AUS for a small loaf of bread!) we decided that there wasn't much point in staying the extra day and had already jumped on a computer and booked the hostel here in Athens for Saturday night.
So we caught the ferry back to Athens at 2.15pm and were back in town by just before eight. Mykonos was a bit of a let down really ... it's fine for people who are cashed up and happy to blow a packet on a two week holiday, but not really that good for anyone trying to budget their way through 7 months around Europe!!!
We have one more day in Athens before heading off to the airport on Monday to fly to Stockholm.

The port on the way in to Mykonos
. It's an old archaeological site spread over an entire small island (about 35 minutes away by boat). We walked around for about 2 1/2 hours and saw some cool mosaics and ancient ruins, before catching the boa back to the port. We also saw a couple of massive pelicans in the main square. On the third day we got dropped back to the port by our lady and picked up some accomo with Mykonos Camping. A pelican waits to cash his traveller's cheque!
. it doesn't get going until about 1 in the morning, going through until about 9am, then time for a quick nap before the beach party starts again at 3pm the next day!Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check out the beach scene today, because after seeing the campsite and the price of food and drink here (we had to pay $4 AUS for a small loaf of bread!) we decided that there wasn't much point in staying the extra day and had already jumped on a computer and booked the hostel here in Athens for Saturday night.
