Cuenca - Diego´s favourite city!

We had an early morning 8 hour bus trip to Cuenca - the third largest city in Ecuador (and our guide Diego´s favourite). Most of the group were hung over for the trip - including Diego!)
Highlights from this leg included ... * Visited Ingapirca Ruins - the largest Inca ruins in Ecuador. We saw the Temple of the Sun and a few Llamas. * Drove out to Cajas (pronounced Cahas) National Park. We went for a two hour hike (or was that mud walk?) around the lake. It was similar to hiking around Dove Lake in Cradle Mountain - just replace easy to follow boardwalk paths with ´where the hell do we go now´mud tracks! One of our group stepped on a mud patch and sank almost up to her waist (and she was tall!)
* We wnt for a walking tour of the Old Town. We saw some awesome looking buildings (yep, more churches!), and some really pretty flowers (and only 20c for a long stemmed rose!) * Diego took us to the Panama Hat Factory - yes, that´s right, they´re actually made in Ecuador! We got to see the process of how they put them together, tried a few on, but didn´t really fall in love with any. * We found a new record breakfast price ... 4 pastries and 2 small yoghurt drinks for only $1.20!!! Adios! More thumbnails ...
