The tour begins - Quito

The days of our tour in Quito were pretty much our own. A few of us organised to go to some markets in Otovalo. It was a three hour drive, but we stopped off on the way to see a few things ... including the ´centre of the world´. That´s right, we went to the equator - the actual spot where all the scientific stuff is done. The talk was very interesting, about how it all came about & how everything works.
The markets were pretty good. Things are so cheap here - it´s a bit like Bali, you have to remember not to haggle over that last 50cents! Our last night in Quito, a few of us went out for a ´big one´! We have found (& fallen in love with) Majitos. We were all at a bar, sitting outside having our fill, when suddenly two guys decided to have a fight, right next to our table. Me & a couple of the girls were actually upstairs at the time, but the boys managed to get covered in pepper spray as the policia broke it up!!!
After going to bed at 3.00am, we were up and on a 7 hour bus ride by 7.00am!!! We were on our way to The Amazon!
