What a busy week we had in Tassie after the race. We drove across to Richmond (about 30 minutes out of Hobart) to see - and stay with, bless their little cotton sox - Glenn's mum & dad. We had a hoot with Marjorie & Bill. They showed us a few local sights - including Mt Wellington, which Ian then proceeded to ride up! I chose the easier option of vehicular power.
We also did the Cadbury chocolate factory tour ... of course!
We headed off down to Port Arthur for a couple of days - went on an amazing (speed) boat cruise from Port Arthur to Eagle Hawk Neck. It was fast, it was windy & the views were incredible! We even got close up to some seals.
Upon returning to Richmond we found that there had been a fire through several properties (and on into an adjoining valley) that afternoon. Luckily Bill & Marjorie managed to save their house, but their land & gardens were almost burnt through. Thank God that both they and the house were ok in the end!
We stayed another day, helped out a bit with the hosing down, then headed off up to Devonport to catch the ferry back to Melbourne.
