Our Hostel was called Paradiso and I’m not sure who named it; I think it should have been called Great Location because that’s all that was good about it. What made me laugh was that there were two staircases up to the hostel, so when we arrived the manager said "oh great you chose the correct staircase" well where does the other staircase lead too I thought – Certain death! Maybe not but it was shared with a massage parlour a 'None Professional’ massage parlour and at 6pm every evening the girls would sit on their stools outside the entrance touting for customers to man handle.
It was hot when we arrived so we had a walk about to find some food then sorted out our laundry the first night. The following day we set out to see what this city has to offer, we caught the mono rail (code MR) to Chinatown where we walked around a market with loads of Factory Seconds, personally I like to call the knock offs, bags, clothes everything you could imagine. I started looking at the bags and as soon as I started asking questions was taken through the back of the stall to a small shop, this had leather, better quality knock offs it was so funny when I tried to get a leather really good copy bag for ten pounds, the door was open again and we were invited back into the gutter. What we did notice is that the city is very dirty and smelly, so many busses and cars everywhere I felt like I needed some fresh air.
We walked to Petronas Towers which were pretty impressive and the huge KLCC shopping mall beneath the towers was equally great. They are crazy about abbreviating everything here it’s crazy. We walked around the towers and took a lot of photographs. To be perfectly honest this is my least favourite city on the trip so far and I’m finding it hard to write anything good about it, so much so we decided to only stay two nights as I craved some coast or highlands. The following morning Justin set his alarm for 6.30am as we were catching a bus to Cameron Highlands for some fresh air in our lungs. I awoke with the sound of the alarm and jumped up, got dressed and looked up at Justin and he was still asleep. I shook him and he said his alarm hadn’t gone off. A guy in our dorm had his alarm set every hour from 4.30am and every time I jumped up, but he didn’t....WHY? Why would you do that? People’s behaviour in dorms can be crazy sometimes. If someone wakes you up coming in a night out comes my special noise carrier bag early the following morning, it’s an eye for an eye in this game. Just when I did get back to sleep Justin woke me u to catch the bus and the alarm guy was still asleep so out came my special bag....rustle rustle rustle.
For the capital of Malaysia I was disappointed, so I left with a smile on my face catching the LRT and MR we headed to CH on our VIP coach with a VPL. TTFN.....
