We left La Serena the following morning and took our last bus journey to Santiago and I'll be honest I won’t miss the long journeys anymore, but the busses were so much better than those in Bolivia and Peru. We checked in a great hostel right in the centre of Santiago which was a really old building, the streets were cobbled and it was really quaint.   Santiago is a great city and a mix between America and Spain, defiantly one of my favourite cities so far which I was not expecting.  We spend most of the day exploring the city, people watching in the plaza, well at least I was, Justin as usual had a little nap on the park bench.  As it was our last night in South America we took ourselves out for a curry and a beer then felt instantly guilty about spending too much money.

South America has came to an end and I have mixed feelings, excited to arrive in New Zealand but sad to leave a place that has offered me so much to see and do, I’ve stood at christs feet in Rio, swan with pink dolphins, sailed down the Amazon Basin, watched part of Moreno Glacier fall apart, stood at the devils throat at Iguassu Falls, danced the tango in Buenos Aires, Rode horseback in Butch Cassidy land, cycled down the world’s most dangerous road in Bolivia, Wine tasted in Mendoza, visited the Reed Islands on Lake Titicaca, start gazed Jupiter at La Serena, stopped at the end of the world in Ushuaia, took a road trip in Luna land Cafayate, tasted Argentina’s best steak in Bariloche, messed about  at the salt flats, white water rafted down Urubamba River and finally and best of all took the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.  Bye bye South America.
