After the trip to Mursi I witnessed a coffee ceremony at a friend of Solomon
. This ceremony takes place anytime someone new is coming to the house so it can be even more times a week. Tried some delicious coffee and local dish.
The the last day in Jinka talked a lot with my new friends and climbed a nearby mountain in the scorching sun. Time to say goodbye to my buddies which accompanied me in the last 3 days. Thanks guys!Practical stuff
- I used Abraham as a guide throughout the Omo Valley area and he was very helpful and took me to the right places where I can take some nice shots. I would definitely recommend him, you can reach him by email firstname.lastname@example.org
or by phone +251 913460415 / +251 926750468. Send him my regards if you do so J
In the bus to Konso I met Solomon who was going to Jinka and invited me to go with him and meet his friends, Abraham, Gelana, Demelache, and some other guys.I stayed at Gelana's place which was perfect. In the evening had some nice Ethiopian food and got to know eachother a bit better. Next day went with Abraham to the market in a village 18 km away called Gazer. On the market I was the talk of the town and it seemed that they had never seen a white person before in this town. But in contrary to most other African countries nobody begged me for money or anything. I even scored extra points when I tried the local strong alcoholic drink 'Katikala’ and some other (non-alcoholic) porridge-like drink ‘Borde’. It was interesting to witness and discover a bit more of this area and how the people live.
