Before Roel and Sven came to Kenya I thought that it would be nice to spend one or more nights at some Kenyan people to have a better look how people live here. And the best way to do his is couchsurfing so hence we found an address in Kisumu at Philip's place. Philip (30 years) was an experiences couchsurfer and already hosted a bunch of people. In the 2 days that we were in Kisumu he showed us around to Kit Mikayi, a sacred big rock where lots of rituals found place long ago. Also a boat trip on Lake Victoria was part of the plan and we even saw some hippo’s there.

Philip told us about his project with the orphanages of Kisumu and the Rainbow center he is putting up to take care of them. He was even more active since he was a former youth politician and is also guiding the youth of Kisumu to invest in their future and not hang on the streets and end up in prostitution or taking drugs. A visit to his father’s house was another beautiful experience and this 'musee’ knew a lot about life and shared his wisdom with us.

Apart from all this activities we also had one party night in Kisumu. A friend of Philip was a driver for a politician and for a few euro’s he could drive us around town in a big Mercedes like we were celebs..haha. Visited a bar with live Rumba music, went to the Octopussy Bottems Up bar and ended up at the Sunlight club. The last day before we left we were surprised with a self-cooked dinner by Philip. We tasted his ugali with beef stew and sukuma wiki all accompanied by some onions, tomatoes, paprika and a delicate coriander mix..hmmmmm. Then it was our turn so we introduced the drinking game ‘KINGSEN’ in which Philip made a slow start but eventually turned out to be a natural talent haha..
