Clive and Lit dropped me at Sioma village where I could wait for a car. Met up with Mwisiya (say: Messia) who also had to go to Senanga. We got the oldest car you can imagine and it wasn't a very comfortable ride in the back of a pick up truck. After 5,5 hours of dusty and bumpy sand roads we arrived to Senanga. A nice looking town where I could spend the night at Mwisiya's house where she lived with her son, mother and where other people also gathered.
I stayed the day I arrived and the next day to check out the village and the market. In the village I went to a barbershop to get myself a fresh shave (which was 5 months ago) and after that we were planning to go to some places by taxi and this is where I could take the wheel. Very cool since this was the first time driving on the left side of the road and also the first time driving since I left The Netherlands. Had quite some attention when I went for a swim in the Zambezi river as the only white guy again.

Practical Stuff
  • If you would like to get 'off the beaten track' and explore the West of Zambia you will need a lot of time, be flexible and if you go by car make sure it is a 4x4. To get from Sesheke to Sioma is a challenge and it took me 1 extra day and I got luckily a ride. From Sioma to Senanga took me 2 hours of waiting and 5,5 hours of driving including stops. I am sure this could take more time if you are unlucky.
