Crossed the Tanzania - Malawi border by foot and Piki-Piki and for the first time in Africa didn't have to pay for a Visa which felt good! I would like to get some money though but the ATM at the border didn't accept my Visa or Mastercard so agreed to get a taxi and pay the man in Karonga. When I got to Malawi immediately I noticed some differences. You have to wear a seatbelt here, there are a lot of police controls on the road, there are less buses and no motorcycles, there is almost no chapati or Chipsi Majai, it is more expensive.

I noticed I started talking Swahili but ofcourse the people here don't understand. Met with Harrington which I contacted via Couchsurfing. First bought a new SIM-card to be able to call in Malawi. Did some internetting in Harrington's office and went to his house in Bwiba 7 km out of town. There I met his brother (Douglas) and his niece (Eda) and we had dinner together.Next day went by bicycle (because there are no motor cycles or busses) to Karonga. Not very comfortable over a bumpy road with 20 kg of stuff hanging on your back but better than walking. This morning checked out the Karonga museum where the Malawisaurus was discovered. Since Karonga could not offer much more I took a bus to Livingstonia which should be nice from what I have heard.
