Late arriving into Oslo around 3pm, then rather frustrating getting a taxi driver who took us to the wrong hotel even though we tried to tell him where to go!
Felt like home back at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia. Dumping our bags in the room - this time the view not quite as nice as last time, we bought another Oslo card & headed off across the park to Ibsen's house, arriving just in time to join the tour which was very interesting. Spent some time wandering in the palace grounds, then back to the hotel to spruce up for our big night out.
We tried to catch the tram to Ekeberg but due to the waterfront roadworks it currently terminates near Cathedral Square & we could not work out where to board the tram which continues on to the restaurant. As it also started to rain, we jumped in a cab which was definitely a wise move.
A warm welcome by the hostess & our waiter Josef, then we settled back to enjoy a special menu created for us by Dee complete with matched wines. After our main courses Josef took us upstairs to a deck on the roof - guests usually not allowed up there - where we enjoyed the view over the city under the "midnight sun"
We could see Dee all night in the open kitchen, then she joined us at the end of her shift. We caught a cab back to the hotel, dropping her back home on the way.
