We made it to Williams with no time to spare. We went to the very informal and informational info session, and then on the campus tour, when it started to pour on us. Our student tour guide had to cut the tour short, and we ran back to the RV as fast as we could. Mom and I were soaked (especially Mom) by the time we could get back inside. Somehow Dad managed to stay dry...hmm...
We waited for the storm to lighten up, and then headed out for Hanover, New Hampshire. First, though, we had to get some diesel, which seemed to be in short supply around here. Following some screwy directions, we drove around the hills/mountains of the Northwest corner of Massachusetts until we realized we were farther away from civilization than we had been in Williams, so we turned around and finally got back on track.
Shelby's College Rating:
WILLIAMS
Campus: Beautiful campus in a quaint town, but it was extremely small and in the middle of nowhere. This wouldn't be so bad, except the college actively encourages students to develop their social lives alongside their academic ones. I think it'd be a bit difficult to do that so far from a decent-sized city. Location is the major drawback. Score: 3 out of 5
Financial: Expensive, but lots of aid available. Also, lots of student research grants and opportunities available. Score: 4.5 out of 5.
Other: Mascot is the purple cow (bonus points). Must again mention undesirable location. Score: 4 out of 5.
Average Score: 4 / 5

Academics: Interesting program, which includes intense tutorials (one-on-one essay critique and debate with another student, supervised by a professor). Great study abroad options. Just may not be rigorous enough. Score: 4.5 out of 5.
