While Maggie was with her class prepping the float for the alumni parade, Mike headed east on the Cowboy Trail on his bicycle. It was 18 miles to the little town of Long Pine and back on this former railroad track. The Cowboy Trail starts in Norfolk, in the eastern part of Nebraska and goes all the way to the western end at Chadron. Cool train trestle at Long Pine and interesting old buildings in the town.

Then it was parade time and later the alumni banquet which included classes from 1944 to 2004. Maggie had a great time catching up with her classmates.

After the banquet, we all headed over to the Silver Circle Saloon where the annual alumni beer garden was set up. Mike enjoyed the traditional red beer (tomato juice and Budweiser) while all enjoyed the interesting characters parading in. We learned that cowboys only wear their hats to bars on Saturday nights, or maybe they only come to town to drink on Saturday nights. Because none were to be found (other than ours) when we were at the Silver Circle on Friday night, but as you can see, tonight was indeed "hat night"! A lesson learned for our next visit.

Thanks, Skeep. I forgot to mention the GREAT weather we have been having. Low 80's during the day and low 60's at night with very low humidity. Wonderful!
