Arriving at "The Front of the Rocky Mountains"

About 5pm, we arrived on Choteau, Montana, whose town slogan is "The Rocky Mountain Front".
This is where the Montana prairie meets the Rocky Mountains and where Mike's mother's side of the family lived for many years. It's also where a large nest of dinosaur eggs were found and where part of Jurassic Park was filmed. After setting up camp and taking a few pictures of the surroundings, we biked into town to look for Uncle Jimmy and the house that Mike's great grandparents and mother lived in. Uncle Jimmy has been renting it for many years and is now fixing it up for sale. Mike's great grandparents moved the house into town from the Rocky Mountain Front itself, where they had been homesteading. Of course when Shelby found some rhubarb growing in the backyard, she had to help herself. Making rhubarb pie is now one of her favorite things to do...and one of our new favorite things is eating her delicious rhubarb pies!
Tomorrow, more old family homesites and Choteau scenery... More thumbnails ...
