We woke up early in St Johns on the eastern shore and started our long drive across the province to Deer Lake close to the western shore.  The total mileage was about 400 miles.  We wanted to get there in time for an early start on Gros Morne NP. We saw only one moose along the way and did not get a picture.  We have only seen two moose along highways in Newfoundland and hope to see more in the northern peninsula.  In spite of rain and fog the scenery was beautiful as we passed lots of greenery and many lakes and rivers.  We had alreaqy done the peninsulas so we stayed on the interstate 1.  Around 2:30 the rain finally stopped and the sun came out.  We are hopeful this weather will hold for the rest of our time in Newfoundland.
