We packed up our gear and headed for our final Gobi activity. We drove for a few hours to sand dunes. We had brought bags and sacks with us so we could slide down the dunes. This didn't work. The bags and sacks were too flimsy so we started sinking into the sand. Even taking running leaps over the dune didn't work. It only resulted in sore mid-areas.
We did get to ride a camel though. They are pretty smelly. And their humps, at least the tops, are pretty soft. I guess when I think about this it makes sense since it's fat.
We wrapped up our sillyness and drove to the airport. The desert, though not sand, is not flat. There are highways of road. And they cross and are bumpy. The highways are all dirt, of course. Our drivers were good friends and enjoyed some racing across the desert to the airport. At one point we were going over 120 km/h!
We arrive at the airport, hang around for two hours and head back to UB. In UB we are picked up by a North American bus (big bus!) with tie dye seats. Rad!
The hotel we first stayed at was booked for this part of the trip so we change hotels. The one we're staying at is in the burbs, probably 30 minute drive from downtown. But of course this trip is all about going with the flow and we are ready to adjust as necessary!
