Trip End
Aug 16, 2008
Up until now, this whole trip has been just an academic exercise. It's as if I'm planning this surreal trip but not actually going on it. Today that changed:
I'M REALLY DOING THIS CRAZY THING!
Hopefully I have everything. There were some last minute issues (shoes of all things) but I think they have been resolved. Or time has run out so they are resolved.
I should have followed the old saying: pack for your trip and then leave behind half. I have sooo much 'stuff'. The good news is that some is being left behind. It's expected that my work clothes (from building half-a-house) will be in no condition to make the return trip. And my hammer will be left in Mongolia. That frees up ... pretty much nothing, but it's a start right?
It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that I'm cutting this short as I have things left to do before my 13 hour flight. Ugh. I really hope they feed us on the flight. And that it's not Chinese food. A nice big greasy American burger would be nice. Or maybe some pasta. Some sushi? I think I'm prepared for the food shock though. I've been filling my system with pro-biotics. These are 'good' bacteria which are supposed to help digestion. Of course that statement has not been approved by the FDA (these days that might be a good thing!).
I must run, my chariot, Air China 982 JFK to PEK, awaits.

PS. IMYN.

The Journey Begins!

Glad to hear that you have the proper shoes for the trip. It may help and if not, there's always Blister Block. Now can you hurry up and get there so you can come back already.
