We went to town for lunch and a little shopping. We were hoping to find some local art, but no luck.
We decided to drive just outside town to see Box Canyon Falls. We hiked down to the bottom, which was not bad at all....mostly stairs, not too steep. Hard to get good pics down there, though. It was dark and misty.
The hike to the top of the falls was another marathon altogether!!! Half a mile straight up!!! First there are stairs, then a fairly level dirt path, then a strenous rocky path. Whew...we made it!!!! Legs will probably be a little sore tomorrow!!!! It was worth it....you can see the whole town from up there!!! The town of Ouray elevation is 7706 and we hiked up three hundred feet to elevation 8006.
Going to Outlaw's Restaurant tonight.....supposedly they have the Cowboy Hat that John Wayne wore during the filming of "TRUE GRIT", which for those of you that know me well....
you know that is one of my favorite movies of all time!!!!
