So we have decided to stay another day in Antigua. We met up with friends that we had made in Flores, and have decided to stay on one more day to chill with them before heading for the Lake. We changed hostles....Jungle Party was not much of a Party. They constantly played either CNN (depressing and enough already about Anna Nicole Smith) or awful Top 40 music really loud or all day long. So we are now staying at The Black Cat hostle in Antigua with Michelle (from San Diego) and Jason (pronounced Yazon, from Munich). Yesterday we had a really relaxing day! And we now have clean laundry which is always a treat. We had lunch at a really cute little cafe yesterday and were seriously satisfied after....it was nice to have a really great meal. Later in the day we ¨church hopped¨¨. Antigua is full of great old churches....some have been restored and some have been left to ruin. They are really beautiful and interesting to walk through. We met up with Jason for dinner (Thai food...awesome and so great to have something other than cheese and beans and rice!) and then later with Michelle for Pina Coladas and Guatemalan beer. It was really a great day. We just strolled the streets of Antigua and hung out in the park people watching. GREAT GREAT DAY!

The photos of our volcano trip are up...so check out how crazy they are!! Miss you all and can´t wait to hear from you!! Love

Kate

So here we are another day in Antigua!!! We decided to stay another night after deciding to have too much fun to get up early and leave the next morning!! Thank the LORD we have left crappy Jungle Party. Jason has said that he is painting is Lonely Planet black, for the black book, because everything they feature seems to go downhill. Of course, Jungle Party was in the LP...!Seriously people, we are in Guatemala!!! GUATEMALA!!!!, and all they seemed to care about was American news and crappy Beyonce and and Fergie, both of whom I have added to my bus AL. Also Kate has Star Jones and Tori Spelling on hers, it took her awhile but she's finally got passengers! Anyhow I feel much better now that we have moved to the better and cheaper Black Cat. It costs the same per night but their food is better and cheaper.

We had a fabulous day yesterday as Kate said. Checked out some churches which is something I love to do. I find it fascinating that they built such incredible buildings back in the 1500s with nothing but their bare hands. They were all destroyed repeatedly by several earthquakes over the years but still have an amazing and peaceful feel to them. I went into the crypt in the first church, Cathedral Santiago, which was very disappointing, pitch black and my flashlight was running out of batteries so it really didn't help. The second one was Iglesia de San Francisco, one where there is a tomb of Hermano Pedro de San Hose Betancourt. He was a monk and opened a hospital for the poor, and is now burried there so it is a very popular place to pray for health, which is exactly what I did. The churches just make me so emotional at times and very grateful so it was a great day for the soul. The spirit just felt very close. I've definately recharged my inner battery.

We found a great little cookie bakery so indulged in that. Enjoyed people watching in the Parque Central, which is where we spotted the very interesting fountain. Had dinner with Jason while we waited for Michelle to get back from Volcan Pacaya. She seems to have a very special talent for having buses break down on her, 3 out of 4 in Guatemala!! We are never taking a bus with her! Went for drinks later and now are planning on leaving tomorrow for San Pedro with Jason. Weehoo weehoo! Also it's ladies night tonight. Highballs for $0.60!

Alright! That's all for now!

Love Kirsten
