Cheddar is a village in Somerset, famous for its gorge, cheese and caves. It is reasonably touristy here, but it does still manage to retain some character. We took Caroline there when she was a teenager and on the way down to Cornwall she saw a sign for it from the motorway - she was really excited about it and remembered playing crazy golf there. As she loves crazy golf, she asked if we could go there on our way home today, so that's what we did.

We left straight after breakfast and made our way up the motorway to Cheddar -stopping several times on the way for various things, so we arrive late morning. First we wander around and find the crazy golf - which we play and there is the usual frivolity and banter as we go round. Caroline wins, which she is really pleased about. Then we find a pub to have some lunch in - as it's a long journey home and Caroline needs to be dropped home in London we leave after eating.

It was a really good weekend.
