MOSQUITO UPDATE: I AM A LEPER!!!
i end up taking the bus to phnom with the english couple from my hotel. the israeli's opt for another bus company so we arrange to meet at the bus station. i arrive in phnom and realize each bus company has its own bus "station"! and by station i mean, random street corner. after walking around and not finding them, i hop into a tuk tuk and go to the lake area (the backpacker haven of phnom). get internet, facebook everyone to meet me at 6:30 at my hostel. then hire a tuktuk to take me to the killing fields, tuol sleng prison/school, and the royal palaces. the cambodian concept of museum is to leave the executed peoples' clothing just lying around. really creepy.
wondering if anybody will show up - or i'm in phnom tonight on my own! AL shows up on a motorbike, phew! we walk across town to the riverside (another expat enclave) and grab dinner. end up in a trivia game and try to win a raffle. after one more bar, decide that phnom is DEAD compared to siem reap. israelis are no where to be found. head back to hostel & i wake up super early to catch my flight back to jakarta, via bkk. always a pleasure when your driver pours gasoline into his tank and fills the balance up with tap water.
